About EMP

History

Founded in Fall 2001 by Ralph D. Christy, a Cornell University Professor, the Emerging Markets Program has created a stage for academics scholars and leading practitioners that encourages discussions and bridges the exchange of information and knowledge of emerging market economies.

Mission and Goals

To establish the Emerging Markets Program (EMP) as a leading international program in emerging markets research and education by bringing together leading practitioners and academics.

Research: To generate critical information to improve private strategies in emerging markets, and to inform public policy makers of the requirements for and design of an enabling environment that supports competitiveness. In this way, EMP may contribute to the economic development of emerging economies by strengthening private strategies and public policies.

Teaching: To disseminate knowledge and research findings of emerging market economies and to provide individuals with the skills needed to compete effectively in a global marketplace.
